Frequently asked questions

The questions people actually ask, and the honest answers.

How is this different from any other productivity app I'll abandon in two weeks?

It's not an app. There's no interface to learn, no buttons to click, no menus to navigate. You talk to your agent in plain language, like texting a capable friend. And the system doesn't need your consistency to function. Ghost for a week, come back, no guilt. It picks up where you left off.

I've tried AI tools before and they didn't help. Why would this be different?

Most AI tools are generic, built for everyone and optimized for no one. This is a personal agent configured specifically for your brain, your patterns, your life. It knows your energy cycles, your avoidance patterns, and your priorities. It gets smarter over time. Six months in, it understands how you operate in ways no generic tool ever could.

I already use ChatGPT / Claude / Gemini. What makes this different?

Those are general-purpose chat tools. You ask a question, you get an answer, and then it forgets everything. A personal agent is persistent. It knows your projects, your preferences, and your history. It connects to your actual tools (calendar, email, task manager) and takes action on your behalf. You're not copy-pasting between tabs. You're telling your agent "reschedule tomorrow's meetings and draft an apology email" and it just does it. And unlike those platforms, you own your data: it lives in plain text files on your own computer. Nothing is locked in someone else's cloud. If you leave, you take everything with you. ChatGPT is a search engine you can talk to. This is a teammate that never clocks out.

Do I need to be technical to use this?

No. The whole point is that you talk to it in plain language. The free install guide walks you through setup one step at a time, written for non-technical brains: install the app, drop in the pack, meet your agent. If you'd rather not do it alone, David can set it up with you. Either way, you don't need to touch any code.

What if it doesn't work for my specific situation?

Once you've installed the pack, your agent runs the AI Life Audit with you: a structured conversation about your pain points, energy patterns, and where it can actually help. That's how you find out what fits your brain. And if you want a read on it before you buy, message me on Telegram and ask. I'll tell you straight whether this approach is likely to land for you, no pressure, no upsell.

How is this different from ADHD coaching?

ADHD coaching gives you strategies and accountability. This gives you a system that implements those strategies for you. Your agent handles the executive function tasks that coaching tells you to do but your brain can't start: drafting emails, tracking tasks, managing your calendar, remembering the things you forget. Coaching and a personal agent complement each other well, but a personal agent doesn't require you to maintain consistency between sessions.

I'm a business owner. How can a personal AI agent help me?

The same way it helps individuals, but pointed at your business. Your agent can draft and send client follow-ups, manage your calendar, triage your inbox, prep for meetings, track invoices, and handle the admin work that eats your day. It connects to the tools you already use, like Gmail, Slack, Stripe, and Notion. The AI Life Audit it runs after install maps your specific workflows and shows you where it can save you the most time. If your needs go past the standard setup (custom automations, deeper integrations), that's where working with David directly comes in.

Is my data private?

As private as it gets. Your agent runs on your own computer, and your data lives there too, in plain text files in a folder you control. Nothing sits on our servers, because there are no Divergent Systems servers in the loop. We never see your notes, your knowledge base, or your conversations. Your AI provider (Anthropic or OpenAI) processes the text you send it under their own privacy terms, the same as if you used their app directly. Back up however you like: Obsidian Sync (end-to-end encrypted) or a private GitHub repo. It's your machine, your files, your call.

Can I afford this? ADHD coaching is already expensive.

The pack is a one-time $77. After that, your only ongoing cost is your own AI subscription, usually $20/month, paid straight to the provider. Compare that to ADHD coaching ($400-800/month) or a virtual assistant ($800-2,000/month). And unlike coaching, the system works between sessions. It's not an hour a week of support. It's there whenever you open it.

What's your refund policy?

The pack is sold through Gumroad, which handles checkout, file delivery, receipts, and refund requests. Because there's no subscription, there's nothing to cancel and nothing recurring to worry about.

Is there anything to cancel? What if I stop using it?

Nothing to cancel. It's a one-time purchase, not a subscription to us. The agent and everything it built live on your computer, in plain text files you own. Stop using it for a month, come back, it's all still there. The only recurring thing is your AI provider subscription, which you manage and cancel directly with them, like any other app.

Do you work with kids and families?

The pack is built for adults. Each person who wants an agent installs their own from their own AI subscription. There's no shared account, and each agent's files stay on that person's machine. If you're setting up agents for a whole household, or want help tailoring one for a teen, that's a good conversation to have directly. Reach out and we'll talk through what makes sense.

Why should I trust you with something this personal?

Because I have the same brain. I was diagnosed with autism and ADHD in my forties after twenty years in software engineering wondering why I could architect complex systems but couldn't reply to a simple email. I built this system for myself first because nothing else worked. I use it every day. This isn't a product I'm selling, it's a system I live in.

What technology stack do you use?

Your agent runs on your own computer through Codex or Claude Code. Both have a desktop app for Mac and Windows, so there's no terminal to wrestle with. Underneath, the agent is powered by OpenAI or Claude, whichever you subscribe to. Your knowledge base is a folder of plain Markdown files you can edit in Obsidian or any text editor. Git handles versioning and is a required prerequisite the guide helps you install. Everything is open formats and portable. No servers, no proprietary lock-in. If you walk away, you take all of it with you.

How do I get started?

Two paths. To do it yourself: get the Divergent Starter Pack ($77) and follow the free install guide. It takes you from empty laptop to your agent's first check-in. If you'd rather have David's help directly, head to the 1:1 Guidance page and reach out by Telegram, form, or a call.
