Get your AI subscription
Your agent thinks using a paid AI plan. You pay the provider directly, and it's the only recurring cost. Which plan you need depends on the harness you picked in step one.
The headline: the cheapest tier is plenty to start. Only move up if you actually hit limits.
Using Codex
RecommendedCodex runs on a ChatGPT subscription.
ChatGPT Plus about $20/month
Start here. It's plenty for daily use with your agent.
ChatGPT Pro about $200/month
Much higher limits, for heavy all-day use. You don't need this to start.
Using Claude Code
Claude Code runs on a Claude subscription.
Claude Pro about $20/month
Start here. Pro is plenty for getting going.
Claude Max about $100 or $200/month
More usage and more access to the strongest models, like Opus. Upgrade only if you hit Pro's limits.
A word on your data
Both providers let you turn off using your chats to train their models. It's a setting in your account's data controls. If privacy matters to you, flip it off when you sign up. Either way, your agent's files stay on your own computer.
Stuck or need help?
Send a message and it comes straight to me. Tell me where you got stuck and I'll write back.
Rather have it done for you?
If following the steps yourself isn't how your brain works today, that's fine. On a Zoom call you share your screen and hand me control, and I set it up for you, right there on your own computer. You watch it come together and end the call with a working setup, nothing left on your plate.
